Baseball caps emblazoned with ‘Kilcreggan’ have been available for some time, but now the village’s name is linked with clothing brand Jack Wills.
The firm which aims to ‘bottle what being at a British university is all about’ has released a ‘Kilcreggan Chelsea boot’.
Available in black or chocolate, the suede leather-soled boot retails at £94.95 in the company’s stories including outlets branches in Eton, Oxford and St Andrews.
The website says: “A good pair of Chelsea boots deserves a place in every guy’s wardrobe. The Kilcreggan are designed in the traditional style and go with every look from jeans and a blazer to a simple tee and chinos.
“These boots are made from buttery-soft suede; a timeless pair that you won’t want to take off.”
Carmen Rendell, head of marketing activation for the company, which was launched in Devon 18 years ago and has seen co-founder Peter Williams included in the Sunday Times Rich List, was unable to shed much light on the reasons for the boots’ name.
“Our designers tend to find their own reasons and justification for picking the name for products they design,” she said.
“This may be towns and villages around the country so unfortunately there’s not a specific story to share on this occasion.”
Timeless and buttery-soft though it is, the village’s namesake boot may not be the most practical of options for west coast weather this winter – a Kilcreggan wellington next, perhaps?
