New pier and berm planned by boatyard on Gareloch

A boatyard has revealed ambitious expansion plans including land reclamation and a new pier.

The proposals have been produced by Silvers Marine Ltd in Rosneath, which was taken over by GSS (Plant) Ltd in 2014.

They would see a berm with infill being built to increase boat storage, with a new pier for work boat access.

Since the boatyard within one kilometre of a Site of Special Scientific Interest at Rhu point on the other side of the Gareloch, an ecological appraisal has been submitted by IKM Consulting,

This states: “The proposed development comprises a land reclamation between two existing slipways.

“The western slip runs from an existing boat shed, and is not currently used.

“The eastern slip runs from the hardstanding and is the operational slipway in use.”
