Kilcreggan ferry reduced to 12 passengers

The Kilcreggan ferry has been reduced to carrying just 12 passengers at a time.

The link with Gourock should carry 65 passengers under the terms of Clydelink’s contract with SPT.

But it has been reduced to carrying 12 people several times in recent years following MCA inspections which led to the suspension of its full licence.

The Island Princess was detained by the MCA for several days before n June after NCA inspections found 30 separate problems with the boat.

Sailings were then suspended for another ten days after a breakdown.

On two occasions in recent weeks the boat has reached its full capacity of 65 on its busiest sailings, forcing passengers to wait at Kilcreggan for the next sailing.

  1. Surely if this was true the operator would’ve be advising the passengers. There’s a suitable place on their twitter page to do it; right next to where it says “..frequent and reliable service.”
