Sailings on the Waverley have been cancelled after the historic paddle steamer crashed into Rothesay pier today.
The Waverley was leaving the harbour on Bute at approximately 3pm today when the collision occurred – she was due to return to Glasgow via Dunoon and Kilcreggan.
A spokesperson for Waverley Excursions Ltd, the charity which operates the world’s only sea-going paddle steamer, said the ship’s bow was damaged in the incident.
She added: “The ship moved back alongside and whilst the ship’s officers assessed the damage, passengers were returned back home by ferry.
“As Waverley requires to enter drydock for repair, the weekend’s Clyde sailings will now not be operating.
“Passengers have been informed and asked to return their tickets for a refund.
“Waverley will be back in service as soon as repairs have been completed.”
