With thousands of visitors set to sweep into a Loch Lomond village this Easter, residents are rolling their sleeves up for some hands-on action.
Locals in Luss, which is widely regarded as one of Scotland’s most beautiful villages, will get together on Saturday March 7 for the beauty spot’s fourth annual Community Clean-Up Day.
Last year, more than 40 volunteers helped sweep roads and pavements, clear overgrown areas and generally spruce up the pretty village filling a jumbo skip with litter and organic waste collected in one day.
The initiative is being organised and co-ordinated by Luss and Arden Community Development Trust.
Trust chairman David McCowan said: “Last year, the clean-up day saw more than 40 volunteers from every walk of life taking part.
“Students, business leaders, retired people, politicians, council employees, national park people, boating enthusiasts and many others who, although, not from the immediate area, love and appreciate Luss and wanted to help ensure our historic village looks its best.
“They did a fantastic job, and it’s a great testament to our community that so many people are willing to give up a few hours for the village.”
The event runs from 9.15am to 1pm. Registration takes place at 9am (along with coffee and bacon rolls) opposite the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel.
Volunteers are asked to wear appropriate clothing and, where possible, bring their own gardening gloves, rakes and shovels.
Lunch for volunteers is provided at the Loch Lomond Arms after the clean-up.
