Proposals for housing at the site on South Ailey Road have been given the go-ahead by planning officials at Argyll and Bute Council under delegated powers.

Two previous applications for the site had been rejected by the council, with appeals being dismissed by Scottish Government Reporters.

But the latest plan, for five houses, did not even go to elected councillors for consideration, with planning agents acting for Mrs Margaret Devine arguing that the site’s designation has changed and it is now within the settlement area.

Seven members of the public wrote to the council supporting the plan, with one against.

It was approved subject to conditions including the retention of some trees and a pavement being installed on that part of South Ailey Road.
