Cove’s Post Office looks set to move – and be turned into a new ‘outreach service’.
The branch would be moved less than 100 yards around the corner to the village store under plans announced yesterday.
A public consultation opened yesterday (Friday) into plans to replace the current branch with a ‘hosted outreach service’.
Postmistress Margaret Shutt retired last December, as reported by the Helensburgh Advertiser here.
A notice states that a postmaster from Cardross – 20 miles away – will offer the service on the nearby premises.
The Post Office website states: “Everyone should be able to access our products and services but it isn’t always possible to have a traditional Post Office in every single town or village.
”That’s where our outreach services come in. In addition to running their own branch, our subpostmasters can travel to nearby communities to provide and oversee Post Office services.”
The consultation closes on March 20 – leaflets are available in Cove’s current post office, or on the website here.
It is very hard to run any business in Cove village,with holiday Homes,taking over by closing public pavement,and also moved the council bin which is outside the post office because they think it looks an eyesore,also customers cannot drive up to the post office,because of other people parkingfromnear by flats,and are told by the holiday homes urybank what ground they should park their cars,and told not walk on their ground,which always been public.
