News in Brief – Saturday Cinema, taste award, piano recital

The sing-along version of children’s favourite Frozen will be shown at Cove Burgh Hall today (Sat), with doors opening at 2.45pm for 3pm start.

And The Grand Budapest Hotel, featuring an all-star cast and winner of the 2015 Golden Globe Best Comedy Film, will be shown this evening -7.15 for 7.30.

Both are part of the Saturday Cinema programme run by Cove and Kilcreggan Film Society.

Knockderry House Hotel in Cove is one of the first businesses to be recognised in VisitScotland’s Taste Our Best awards.

The awards are given to hospitality businesses which can show that at least 40% of the produce on their menus is from a quality Scottish origin.

Alasdair Beatson, hailed as the best Scottish pianist to emerge since Steven Osborne, will be performing in Helensburgh’s Victoria Halls at 7.45pm today.

He will play works by Beethoven, Schubert, Ravel and Kurtag in a recital organised by Helensburgh Music Society.
