Hundreds of people have objected to plans for a new nuclear support hub which would discharge radioactive waste into the Gareloch.
But environment agency SEPA says it has no objections to the MoD proposals for HM Naval Base Clyde at Faslane.
First revealed here, the plans would see a two-storey building, 45 metres long and 31 metres wide, built on a concrete podium.
It would enter service in April 2018 and planning agents say it would be more modern than current facilities and reduce the level of radioactivity discharged into the Gareloch.
More than 600 members of the public have lodged objections, but SEPA’s views are likely to be crucial.
Senior planning officer Lynne Anderson’s report states: “There will be radioactive waste discharged from the site.
“The levels of discharge will be subject to approval from SEPA under a SEP{A/MoD agreement. There are agreements in place for the existing facility. The existing agreements are currently under review and will be updated.
“As part of this review, we will be considering the dispersion and mixing of the effluent to be discharged at the new proposed location. SEPA would expect to see the dispersion of the effluent appropriately covered in the application for a new agreement.”

And most of them don’t live there. But they know best, obviously
the one who are objecting, have not a clue what they are talking about. do they know it is a replacement, and do they know what it is replacing, SEPA does, hence it has no objections. arr well.
