New in brief: Shopfront grants, boatyard apprentices and Christmas sale

Grants worth £70,000 to improve shopfronts will be shared between 20 businesses in Helensburgh.

The funding comes from a £140,000 agreement between Argyll and Bute Council and Drum Development, who developed the Waitrose site.

Twelve businesses have already been approved, with another eight to be accepted following receipt of paperwork

The remaining £70,000 will be held over for a second phase of shopfront improvements.

A new apprenticeship scheme has been announced by Silvers Marine in Rosneath.

Delivered by MI Technologies, the first two apprentices are already on site and training to a SVQ level 3 in boat building and fabrication

A Christmas sale is being held in Cove Burgh Hall on Saturday (December 6), starting at 2pm, with teas and home baking available and all proceeds going to Craigrownie Parish Church.
