A new book by a Rhu author is being launched in Helensburgh next week.
Fishing for Cormorants is the latest work by Brian Fleming, a qualified homeopath, company director and former dealer in rare books who is a member of Rhu and Shandon Community Council.
With five books now in publication and available on Amazon, Brian says he finds inspiration from the sea and walking his dog Jazz along Rhu Bay.
His latest book centres on Mike Smart, a cynical and world-weary Irish Republican activist.
When two British army medics are detained by the Republicans, Smart is given the task of escorting the two men to a safe house.
The journey by land and sea proves emotional, as well as physical, with Smart forced to take an in-depth look at his sense of patriotism, moral compass and commitment to his cause.
The book will be launched at Costa Coffee in West Princes Street on Wednesday November 12 at 7.15pm.
Everyone is welcome and there will be musical acts, a charity feature, and a talk on quality coffee as well of course as the chance to discuss the book and have copies signed by the author.
