Cove Sailing Club’s Murray Caldwell has been crowned overall winner of the 2014 Scottish Series at Tarbert.

Murray, who lives in Cove and runs Nicolson Hughes Sails in Rosneath, headed a 1-2 for Cove in the Sonata class, with his boat Red Hot Poker just ahead of Mark Bradshaw in Mostly Harmless.

Nearly 100 boats contested nine classes on Loch Fyne this weekend as Scotland’s post prestigious sailing competition celebrated its 40th year

This year it was sponsored by Rosneath boatyard Silvers Marine – and Silvers’ managing director Jamie McGarry took his yacht Eala of Rhu to first place in IRC Class one.

Other winners were: IRC Class 2, Salamander XXI; IRC 4, Wildebeest IV; CYCA Class 5 Rogue Trader; CYCA 6, Stargazer; CYCA 8, Hoodlum; Sigma 33s, Close Encounters.
