11th hour delay for Kilcreggan ferry timetable changes

Timetable changes on the Kilcreggan to Gourock ferry which were due to come into effect on Monday have been abandoned at the 11th hour.

A considerably reduced temporary timetable had been due to come into effect because of work by Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) at the ‘Kilcreggan Steps’ at Gourock.

But at 5.50pm today (Friday) a delay to the work was announced in an email by Alex Scott, bus services manager at Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT).

On Friday nighthe SPT website still showed that the temporary website would come into effect on Monday 28th, but this has now been amended; Mr Scott has asked the ferry user group to inform as many people of possible, while operators Clydelink are contacting local radio stations.

The new date for the work, which was expected to take six weeks, has not yet been announced; the temporary timetable had come in for heavy criticism from commuters on both sides of the Clyde.
