Wiring theft investigated by police

The theft of a large roll of copper wiring on the Rosneath Peninsula is being investigated by Police Scotland.

PC Andy Crawford told Cove and Kilcreggan community councillors this week that the wire had been stolen between March 1 2013 and January 15 this year, near the bottom of the Peaton Hill on Garelochside.

The only two crimes in recent months in the Cove and Kilcreggan area had both been on Shore Road in Cove – a garden fence was vandalised near Cove Sailing Club on December 1 and garden planters were stolen from a property near Knockderry Castle on December 15.

He added that there had been 116 calls to the police on the peninsula since the start of December, 27 of them from Cove and Kilcreggan, with many of them relating to incidents such as fallen trees during the high winds; 11 crimes had been reported on the whole peninsula.
