Commuters face havoc as trains and ferries are cancelled

There will be no trains leaving Helensburgh until at least 4pm tomorrow because of high winds, Scotrail have announced.

Ferry services will also be affected because of gales and high tides; the Argyll Ferries sailings between Gourock and Dunoon until at least 8.20am have already been cancelled, with an alternative bus service available, while Clydelink say sailings between Kilcreggan and Gourock are subject to disruption at short notice.

Trains from Gourock will not run until at least 4pm, and the same situation will face commuters on the other side of the Clyde where no trains will run beyond Dalmuir.

The Met Office has issued an amber alert of westerly gales.

More information on rail services (or the lack of them) will appear on the Scotrail website.
