Final journey for the Golden Cross

The former tug Golden Cross, which ran aground at Ardentinny in April, has been towed to DRB Marine in Rosneath for scrapping.

It had been lying aground at Swine’s Hole, off Loch Goil , after running aground a second time in May.

Owned by Captain Stuart White and his actress wife Suzie Wong, the tug was launched in 1955; earlier this year Captain White told the Dunoon Observer that he hoped after going into dry dock it could act as a focal point for various maritime charities.

These pictures are by Paul Hunter, who said: “A sad end for a fine tug.”
