New community councillors named

New-look community councils for national park villages have been announced after this week’s elections, run by Argyll and Bute Council.

In Luss and Arden eight community councillors have been elected following a 44.81 per cent turnout. There were 138 valid papers, none rejected.

The following have been elected: David Bissett – 103 votes; Katherine Colquhoun – 68; Patrick Farrell – 67; John W R Gourlay – 51; Ian MacEachern – 103; Iain R Marshall – 77; David Pretswell – 74; Peter Robertson – 91; Alyson Walker – 91

A total of 12 candidates stood for ten places on Arrochar and Tarbet Community Council.

The percentage turnout was 39.05, with 261 valid and one rejected papers.

The following community councillors have been elected: Anne S Bax – 104 votes; Ellen M Greenwood – 153; Mary I Haggarty – 214; Ian Kay – 182; Timothy Kinvig – 172; William A Lowe – 112; Ronald MacDonald – 184; Jean V Mustarde – 140; Diane Page – 157; Ronald Ross – 210; Joan Queen – 148; Shauna K Wright – 92.

In Garelochhead and Rosneath and Clynder, there will be by-elections as there were not enough candidates to form a quorate community council.

Nominations are expected to close on  November 18, with an election date of December 19.
