Helensburgh’s lifeboat crew were called out after reports of kite surfers in trouble last week.
The Coastguard in Belfast asked for the RNLI boat to be launched after a member of the public contacted them last Wednesday evening, concerned about three kite surfers in the Ardmore area.
The lifeboat launched at 7.01pm but after reaching the scene the crew was advised by the coastguard that two of the kite surfers were now ashore , and at 7.21pm it was confirmed that the third surfer was also safely ashore.
With all surfers accounted for, the lifeboat returned to station and reported ready for service again 45 minutes after being launched.
The incident was classed as a false alarm with good intent.
