Community open days are being held at the site of Helensburgh’s planned Heroes Centre over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.
The warehouse on 19 George Street will be opened on Saturday May 4 between 10am and 4pm and the next day from 10 to 2.
The project team is said to have made significant progress over the last four mnths and would be delighted to meet with as many local people and interested groups as possible to discuss the current plans and proposals.
In January the team launched an appeal to raise the £2m required to bring the project to fruition and will be on hand to explain latest progress and next steps, and visitors will get the chance to see the building’s potential.
The objective of the Heroes Centre is to create a social hub offering meaningful benefits to all members of a local community using an approach and model that can be adopted and replicated by other local communities; more detail are on the website here.
The Heroes Centre proposals provide for the following:
- A 50s diner
- A two-screen digital cinema
- Dedicated teaching/learning areas providing education and training in the skills and technologies called for in a digital, information driven economy and society
- Exhibition and display area showcasing local ‘heroes’ and their achievements.
