Heist and Les Mis at Cove

Crime drama The Heist and recent box office hit Les Miserables will bring Cove and Film Society’s season to an end.

Next Thursday (April 11) Gene Hackman and Danny Devito star in David Mamet’s 2001 story about a jewel fence who sends his nephew on a Swiss gold heist to ensure the fence’s long-term partner-in-crime divides the loot equally.

The 109-minute film is rated as Cert. R for strong language. Doors open 7.30, lights down 7.45. Admission free to members, £4 for guests, £3 concessions.

Free popcorn, raffle and tuck shop, or you’re welcome to bring your own refreshments.

Then on 25 April the society will hold its AGM, doors open 7pm, AGM 7.15, ights down 7.30 (please note change of film start time).

Les Miserables, based on Victor Hugo’s novel about the French revolution, has a cast including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway.

The film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for Jackman and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture for Hathaway.

It has also won four BAFTA Awards and received eight Academy Award nominations including Best Picture (the first musical nominated since 2003’s winner Chicago) and Best Actor for Jackman, and won three, for Best Sound Mixing, Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Supporting Actress for Hathaway.
