Residents and businesses on and around the Rosneath Peninsula are being urged to join a pilot project to cut crime.
The Rural Watch scheme will see local officers from Police Scotland and Ministry of Defence Police working together to reduce crime, with officers from both forces carrying out patrols, including joint patrols.
Co-ordinator PC Andy Crawford, based in Helensburgh, said: “I would encourage rural farms and businesses to join. The website has the facility to send out information to members and keep you updated with the current situation.”
The scheme covers the Lomond North area, which includes Cove, Kilcreggan, Rosneath, Clynder, Garelochhead, Rhu and Shandon; to join, go to the website here.

All MDP officers are constables in law and have full police powers anywhere on defence
property or when protecting defence assets wherever they may be. They also have full
police powers anywhere in the UK, if a local police force asks for their assistance. Whilst the
MDP clearly has principal jurisdiction on MOD property where it is based, there are often
Security Vigilance Areas around MOD property, the arrangements for which are always
agreed with the local police force
