New speed limit planned for A814

A 40mph speed limit on one of the busiest stretches of road near Helensburgh could be in force before Christmas.

Argyll and Bute Council wants to introduce the limit on a half-mile stretch of the A814 between Helensburgh and Dumbarton.

It would come into effect on the road at Ardoch, near the authority’s border with West Dumbartonshire Council, on December 14.

Copies of the Order, made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, are available in Cardross post office and the council offices at Blairvadach in Shandon and Kilmory near Lochilphead.

The public have six weeks to question the validity of the order.
