Latest ferry passenger numbers revealed

New statistics covering the Kilcreggan to Gourock ferry have been published by SPT.

A report paints an improved picture for the service now run by Clydelink, after figures for May to July showed falls of between 11% and 34%.

Friday’s meeting of the operations committee will be told that the passenger figures for four-week periods in August and September show year-on-year increases of 6.4% and 4.4% respectively.

The August total was 5,807 compared to 5,457 in 2011, 5.994 in 2010 and 6,674 in 2009.

The ‘moving annual total’ of 53,761 is still below the target of 60,000.

There were 4,962 passengers in the four weeks up to September 8, compared to 4,754 (2011), 5,985 (2010) and 5,396 (2009).
