Angelic opener for film society

Ken Loach’s social-realist comedy hit The Angels’ Share opens Cove and Kilcreggan Film Society’s 2012/13 season on October 11.

The winner of this year’s Jury Prize at Cannes, it was widely acclaimed by critics with the Observer’s Philip French hailing it as ‘a warm, deftly-plotted heist movie’ and the Telegraph describing it as a ‘smokily satisfying comedy’.

It is followed by Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (November 8) and Wild Bill (November 22) before the festive special A Christmas Story on December 13, when mulled wine and mince pies will be on offer.

Evan Almighty will be the first film of the new year, on January 10, while the film for February 14 is to be confirmed.

The Ides of March is the appropriate choice for March 14th, followed by The Heist on April 11th and the society’s AGM on April 25.

Doors open for all films at 7.15pm with the film starting at 7.30; the annual membership fee of £20 free entry to all the Thursday programme films.

The Saturday Cinema returns to the Burgh Hall, with children’s favourite The Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists at 3pm and The Hunger Games at 7.30pm.
