Another lifesaving defibrillator machine has been provided by volunteers on the Rosneath Peninsula.

Garelochhead and Rosneath Peninsula Community First Responders will soon be fitting their fifth public access defibrillator, this time in Kilcreggan village centre.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Although the donors wish to remain anonymous, they have written a dedication to their grandparents who both suffered from cardiac arrest – ‘Gifted by two ex-residents of the village in fond memory of their Kilcreggan grandparents’.

“The whole community will benefit from their generosity and thoughtfulness.”

Local businesses are being invited to bid for contracts as part of the £2m restoration of Hermitage Park in Helensburgh.

Argyll and Bute Council is holding a ‘meet the buyer’ event in the Victoria Halls on March 10, from 10.30am to 1pm.

Council leader Dick Walsh, said: “This is a major contract opportunity and we want to provide as much information, advice and support as possible, helping companies navigate the often tricky public sector procurement path.

“There is an impression across the country that public sector contracts can only be won by big, national companies which employ their own procurement experts to fill in the forms, but that simply isn’t true. We awarded over a third of contracts to local companies last year; well above the national average of around one-fifth.

‘’We would encourage any businesses interested in securing this contract or associated sub-contracting opportunity, to attend the event and have an informal chat with our procurement team.”

Anyone interested can book a place by emailing procurement@argyll-bute.gov.uk
