Police issue warning to speeding drivers in Cove and Kilcreggan

Only one crime was committed in Cove and Kilcreggan over the last eight weeks, a meeting heard last night.

But the public were urged to contact police about anyone speeding, and warned to beware of rogue traders and fraudsters.

Sergeant Sandy Johnstone of Police Scotland told Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council that there had been a breach of the peace on February 5, on Shore Road in Cove, with a man arrested for behaving in a disorderly manner.

He said complaints had been received about drivers speeding through Cove, adding: “If anyone has any concerns about any individual’s manner of driving please feel free to contact the police.”

He also asked the public to be wary of, fraudsters and cold callers: “It’s people phoning up or turning up offering services or pretending to be from a bank.

“These people are very believable because they already have some information – never give them any pin numbers or account details.”

He added: “As spring approaches beware of rogue traders, beware of people turning up at your door offering to do work which is then sub-standard and often at inflated prices.”

Anyone with concerns about any of these issues should call 101.
