A new craft venture is being launched in Rhu, offering ‘crafternoons’ and with classes starting at £10.IMG_4567

Based in the Royal Northern & Clyde Yacht Club, – which recently featured as a stunning location in the BBC adaptation of Iain Banks’ novel Stonemouth – The Craft Room Scotland will be launched in August.

But from June 27 onwards designer and entrepreneur Michelle Mac Cormack will be running ‘modern making’ classes for up to eight people on Wednesdays (7-9pm) and Saturdays (11am-1pm).

Each class is different and participants will be able to walk away with their finished product, such as a tassel necklace or a set of paper decorations – all materials and a cuppa included!

Michelle has been working in craft for almost 10 years, having stepped away from a career as a business analyst.

At the RNCYC she has turned the first-floor Thistle room, which has expansive views over Rhu Narrows, into a fully-functioning and exquisitely decorated craft haven.

The Craft Room aims to give creative enthusiasts the chance to take up or develop an interest in handmade craft.

There will be a comprehensive timetable of craft classes, “crafternoons”, workshops and talks for local residents and tourists alike, giving craft lovers the chance to create beautiful things in a social environment without making a mess in their home.
